CSTEP alumni serve many valuable roles and help to expand our capacity and footprint. CSTEP Connect matches alumni with current students to provide insight into their current profession and career path. This 30 minute virtual volunteer opportunity presents an exciting way to provide advice to students and aid in their career development.
CSTEP Connect takes place in January during UB's winter session and again during the summer. Alumni volunteers can connect with students in the areas of career advice, job shadowing and help with applying to graduate or professional school. Our expectation is that the connections are a one-time/half hour commitment, but some alumni choose to continue to serve as a mentor.
CSTEP alumni of all disciplines and professions are invited to volunteer.
Since connections are often virtual (30 minutes), there are no geographical boundaries for alumni or students. Register and indicate the ways that you would like to serve as a mentor and CSTEP will match you with a student. The connection can take place in-person or via Zoom.
Connections can occur any day during UB’s winter session, during January. Our application deadline is in December. We will also hold CSTEP Connect in summer.
Volunteering for CSTEP Connect is an opportunity to mentor and positively impact current students in the pipeline. You can provide a different perspective on their major, career path and professional expectations. Volunteering is also a great way to give back to CSTEP and UB on your own terms.
Registering is simple and just takes minutes. Complete the form via the link below and we will match you with a student.
