Hard work is rewarded here. The Honors College offers numerous opportunities for enrolled Honors scholars to receive funding in support of co-curricular exploration and academic enrichment.
Awarded to a junior Honors scholar in good standing who demonstrates unusual creativity and independence of mind, and who shows promise of benefiting humanity within their lifetime. The value of the award varies. Applications to the Bloch Memorial Fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from Sept. 1 through Oct. 1.
$1,000 is awarded to a rising Honors College senior who demonstrates an intention to continue their studies in the medical research field. Applications to the Chang Memorial Fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from March 1 through April 1.
Awarded to a junior or senior Honors scholar pursuing a Bachelor of Science in ether Biological Sciences or Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and has demonstrated the potential to contribute to their chosen field in a substantive way. Applications to the Dellas Scholarship Fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from Feb. 15 through April 1.
Awarded to a junior Honors scholar who demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities and who shows promise of benefiting humanity within their lifetime. The value of the award varies. Applications to the Calvi Memorial Fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from Sept. 1 through Oct. 1.
Provides financial support to Honors scholars participating in activities related to their academic interests. The typical award amount is $500. Applications for this enrichment fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from July 15 through June 1 and are reviewed at the end of each month.
Awarded to Honors scholars in good standing who wish to participate in an experiential learning opportunity (including but not limited to unpaid internships. Excludes research projects and study abroad). Applications to this learning fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from July 15 through June 1 and are reviewed at the end of each month.
Awarded to Honors College scholars in good standing to help defray study abroad program expenses. The maximum award amounts are $1,000 for a summer or winter session, $1,500 for a fall or spring semester and $2,500 for a full academic year. Applications can be viewed and completed in the portal from March 1 through April 1 for fall and summer travel and from Oct. 1 through Nov. 1 for winter or spring travel.
Awarded to students who wish to participate in an experiential learning opportunity (including but not limited to unpaid internships). Students must be in good standing in the Honors College, accepted into a major in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), and be a member of a group underrepresented in engineering and computer science (examples include, but are not limited to, students who are female, LGBTQ, Black, Latinx, Native American, a veteran, or have a disability).
Awarded to students in good standing in the University Honors College or Daniel Acker Scholars Program majoring in physics, chemistry, biology, geology, geography, computer science, math or bioinformatics to help cover travel costs to attend or present at a conference. Students are awarded up to $250 for to help cover travel costs to attend a conference and up to $500 to help cover travel costs to present at a conference. Preference is given to underrepresented students. Applications to the Somer Fund can be viewed and completed in the portal from July 15 through June 1 and are reviewed at the end of each month.
The University Honors College Research and Creativity Fund (UHCR&CF) is intended to enable undergraduate Honors students to receive grants which defray expenses directly related to research and other creative activities. This program is supported through funds from the Office of the Provost and administered by the Honors College Research and Creativity Fund Committee.
These research and creativity fund grants are available only for University at Buffalo students who are in good standing in the Honors College. The maximum total project funding available is $1,000 per grant (applicants should not request funding beyond this limit). Amounts granted may be less than requested depending upon the availability of funds and necessity of each budgeted item. The majority of funds will be managed and administered through a sub-project with the faculty mentor serving as Principal Investigator (PI).
Proposals are reviewed by the Honors College Research and Creativity Fund Committee.
