The UB Office of International Education (OIE) offers research grants of up to $5,000 on a competitive basis to support scholarly research or creative work on important global/international topics. Funds can support research travel expenses; purchase and collection of data; proofreading, indexing, subvention, or any other publication expenses; and student research assistants. Grants do not provide funding for permanent equipment, software, conference travel, office supplies, or faculty or staff salary. The fund will be transferred to the PI’s home department and has to be expended normally within one year after the start of the research project.
Any tenure-track (pre-tenure and tenured), clinical or research faculty who conduct research or creative work on important global/international topics are eligible to apply.

Applicants must submit all required documents as separate files (PDF or WORD) to the OIE submission site. Grants are awarded twice a year, and the application deadlines are at the close of business (5:00 pm) on February 28 and September 30.

Applications will be evaluated by a UB faculty committee convened by the OIE. Applicants will be notified of their funding decision normally within a month of the deadline.
The awardee is required to submit a summary report of no more than 500 words within a month of the conclusion of the project. The summary report should be submitted to the Office of International Education at OIEgrants@buffalo.edu. Failure to submit the summary report in time may make the awardee ineligible for future OIE grants.
