Setting Up Your Profile and Notifications

1. On the minibar, click your name and select Profile.
2. Click Change Picture.
3. Click Upload and locate an image file on your computer.
4. Click Upload.
   
5. Click Add.
   
6. Click Save and Close.
   

Notifications are messages triggered within a course that you can activate to keep up-to-date on changes to your course. Notifications are sent to your UB email (or the Brightspace Pulse app on your mobile device). Every user in UB Learns sets their notification preferences.

You can receive notifications for any of the following features.

• Activity Feed
• Assignments
• Content
• Content Service
• Discussions
• Grades 
• Quizzes
  

Note: A course must be active to send notifications. 

1. Click your name in the upper-right corner of most pages in UB Learns and select Notifications. 
   • Your UB email address is used for all email notifications. This cannot be changed. 
2. Select Never, Daily or Weekly from the How often? drop-down menu under Summary of Activity. 
3. Click the checkboxes to the right of the notifications you want to receive.
   
4. You can prevent courses from sending notifications.
   
   1. Click Manage my course exclusions.
      
   2. Cick the X icon to exclude a course or the undo arrow icon to restore an excluded course. 
   3. Click Close when finished.
      
5. Click Save.

With the Brightspace Pulse app, instructors have the option to receive notifications on their mobile devices. If you are tagged in a discussion topic or directly messaged by a student, you can have these alerts sent to the Brightspace Pulse app on your mobile device for quick access. As an instructor, you will also be able to:

• Make corrections or updates to course content.
• Post announcements.
• Quickly access content from any mobile device.
• Launch UB Learns from the app without having to sign in.

You can set up push and email notifications from the app.

1. Click the UB Learns icon in the top-left corner of the app.
2. Click Settings.
