Learn how graduate students can prepare to register for classes, including removing holds, planning their schedule and making changes.
Students are assigned an enrollment appointment, which is a specific date and time to begin registering for classes (students can find their enrollment appointment on the HUB Student Center in MyUB).
Students may register in the HUB Student Center continuously from the start of their enrollment appointment until the end of the drop/add period.
A hold is an action used by the university to prevent students from registering for or resigning from classes, receiving grades, and/or releasing student records, including diplomas, enrollment certification or transcripts until the reason for the hold has been resolved with the office that placed it.
As part of the registration process, students will select courses with the advice of their advisor or committee and with the approval of their program director. Students should schedule an appointment with their advisor or committee to discuss course registration and academic progress.
Once students have been assigned an enrollment appointment, they can use Schedule Builder and shopping cart in HUB to search for courses and plan their schedule. They can also import classes directly from their Planner.
Students can use the shopping cart to validate their course selection. The validation process will check for common problems that will prevent students from registering when enrollment begins, including time conflicts, repeat issues, requisite issues (courses that need to be taken before or with another course) and unit limits.
Validating courses does not guarantee enrollment into any course.
On the assigned enrollment date, students should register for classes in HUB. For best class selection, register as soon as the enrollment appointment opens.
Non-degree seeking students should view registration information on the non-degree seeking student registration information page.
Students may register for courses and make changes to their class schedule at any time between the start of their enrollment appointment through the end of the drop/add period for that session. Students may also resign from classes.
Whenever a student makes changes to their schedule, they should verify the changes have been processed. Students may view and print their schedule by accessing their HUB Student Center.
Students should be sure to check the instruction mode of their class prior to course registration.
All graduate students must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours during each fall and spring semester or a minimum of 9 hours if the student holds a graduate, teaching, or research assistantship to be considered full-time by certain outside agencies and organizations such as lending institutions, health insurance carriers, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, etc.
Please note that a student’s status (full-time or part-time) will impact the amount of financial aid that they are eligible to receive.
