Electric Power Systems

This first course of the Energy Production, Distribution & Safety series – which explores various facets of the power sector – familiarizes participants with standards and policies of the electric utility industry. It introduces the electric power system, from generation of electricity all the way to the wall plug. Participants learn about the segments of the system, and common components like power cables and transformers.

Intended Audience

Individuals considering a career in the energy industry – whether a hands-on utility technician or utility worker position, or interested in emerging green energy solutions – and those already working in the industry who have less than three years of experience and have not completed similar training

  • High school diploma
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics
