  • Function

This outdoor track and field complex replaced Rotary Field of the South Campus as the official home of the UB football, track, soccer, and field hockey. However, the New University Stadium, built in 1993, has served as the Division of Athletics' main facilities.
The Walter Kunz Stadium provides practice facilities for intramural activities, clubs, marching band, and team practices.  The 4,000-seat Walter Kunz Stadium on the northwest side of the North Campus has an eight-lane, 400-meter running track that also features a steeplechase course with a water jump.

  • Namesake

    Kunz.

Walter Kunz has been a long time member of the senior administration here at UB. His various roles have included Development, the Athletics Program and the Blue & White Club '05 Fund Drive. He was instrumental in getting the stadium built. "Old" UB Stadium was officially rededicated as Walter Kunz Stadium on April 16, 2005. Walter Kunz, Ed.M., '65, Ph.D. '70, a former UB faculty member and longtime advocate and supporter of the Division of Athletics, made a generous six-figure gift that was fulfilled as part of "The Campaign for UB: Generation to Generation," which helped rehabilitate the stadium and add a new artificial surface.
