A single, unified identity and language will help propel our university forward. And with a common nomenclature and hierarchy, we can deliver the brand clearly and compellingly.
In running copy, “University at Buffalo” should always be used in the first reference. In all subsequent references, “UB” is appropriate. Please review additional naming guidance that further restricts the use of UB in programs, titles, etc.
This name should be used only on legal documents such as contracts, diplomas, formal agreements and proposals.
There are no other approved names for the university. The use of “SUNY-Buffalo” and other versions of the official names are not permitted.
