All of our in-person and virtual tutoring spots for summer one-to-one tutoring are now full.
CLaRI’s summer program “One-to-one Reading and Writing Sessions” offers individualized, in-person and virtual tutoring to children entering Kindergarten through grade 12. Certified literacy specialists, as well as UB literacy specialist graduate students, provide individualized, literacy instruction using research-based practices to tailor instruction to meet each child’s unique literacy and learning needs. We believe that all children can learn to read.
Children in regular education and special education working below grade level, on grade level, or above grade level are welcome to attend summer tutoring.
Based on parent and teacher information, CLaRI provides instruction in one or all of the following areas: comprehension, vocabulary, fluency (word recognition, automaticity, and prosody), spelling (phonological awareness, phonics, & conventional spelling), and writing.
Sessions are 55 minutes in length, with 5 minutes of parent debriefing at the end of each session for a total of 60 minutes. We offer afternoon, evening, and Saturday morning sessions each week. The program runs for five weeks, from Monday, July 8 to Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Sessions will be offered in person and virtually (via the web-based platform: Zoom). Families will choose either in-person instruction for all 5 weeks of the program or virtual instruction for all 5 weeks of the program.
The last five minutes of every tutoring session are reserved for teachers to speak to parents about the instruction provided during that lesson and their child’s literacy progress. At the end of tutoring, parents will receive a brief summary sheet that states what instruction occurred during the session.
If you will be on vacation during one of the five weeks of our summer program, CLaRI will be happy to accommodate this and schedule one (1) make-up session. We cannot accommodate more than one week’s absence.
