How to Request Official Score Reports for Exam Credit

Students must submit official exam score reports for any exams they would like considered for credit awards at UB. Official reports should be sent to:

University at Buffalo, 12 Capen Hall, Buffalo, NY 14260-1660

Phone: 716-645-6900 or 1-888-UB-ADMIT

Email: ub-admissions@buffalo.edu

For AP or CLEP credit requests give College Board the “SUNY Center Buffalo/School Code 2925.” The school code is very important, as it differentiates SUNY Center Buffalo (UB) from SUNY Buffalo State University (Buffalo State). Please see the Undergraduate Catalog and search for exam types that are considered for UB credit.

Step 1. Request Official Exam Score Reports

Check the exam websites for instructions on how to request an official score report. There is usually a fee charged for a score report.

Step 2. Send an Official Exam Score Report to UB

Have the official exam score report sent to the following address. Designate UB (SUNY Center Buffalo/School Code 2925) if a school code is requested. For AP scores, an official transcript must be sent to UB by the College Board. It is not enough for the student’s high school or previous college to have a copy of their AP scores.

University at Buffalo, 12 Capen Hall, Buffalo, NY 14260-1660

Exam Credit Typically Appears in 6-8 Weeks

It typically takes six to eight weeks from the time a student requests an exam score report until the time it appears on their Academic Advising Report, in the current semester for AP credit or after the student’s first UB semester for other exam credit types. If the student does not see the exam credit on their Academic Advising Report after six weeks, first confirm that the score report was sent to UB. If it was sent, the student should then call the Office of the Registrar to check to make sure that the transcript was received and is being processed.

If AP Credits Do Not Appear on Academic Advisement Report

  • Call College Board’s toll-free number 1-888-CALL-4-AP.
  • Ask if the scores were sent to SUNY Center Buffalo at school code 2925. If scores were sent correctly, ask for the date the report was sent.
  • If scores were not sent, ask that they be sent using our school code 2925.
  • Be sure College Board sends scores for all the tests the student has taken.
  • Be sure the student’s Social Security Number is updated with College Board; if the Social Security Number is missing or wrong, this will delay processing.

Decline or Recover Transfer Credit

If a student needs to decline or recover transferring credit from an alternative exam, they should complete the Credit Declination / Recovery Form.
