“This ACCESS summer experience with the Metrics team at Buffalo...has already proven invaluable in my current computer science courses and will continue to serve me well in the future. ”
Rodney Garnett, UB Computer Science Major

The ACCESS Monitoring and Measurement Service team at UB CCR is responsible for monitoring the National Science Foundation's (NSF) cyberinfrastructure resources around the country.  ACCESS MMS collects information on the ACCESS CI including compute, storage, networking and software/data services.

During the summer of 2024, the MMS team worked with several University at Buffalo undergraduate students through the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.  The students typically work with a mentor for 9-12 weeks on a specific project related to the MMS XDMoD software application.

Rodney Garnett's project was featured on the ACCESS website recently as one particular success story.  Working with CCR's Aaron Weeden, Rodney worked on the XDMoD Python API. His role involved developing new automated tests, contributing bug fixes and writing documentation.  “The skills I gained have allowed me to approach coding tasks with greater confidence and proficiency,” he said.
