Senior Associate Vice President for Economic Development
As Senior Associate Vice President for Economic Development, Per Stromhaug oversees the Business and Entrepreneur Partnerships team, which connects companies and startups to UB resources to help businesses grow. He also leads UB’s Centers of Excellence, which drive growth in the life sciences and advanced manufacturing industries across New York State.
Per previously served as Associate Vice President for Innovation and Economic Development at Binghamton University. There, he led initiatives that positioned the university as a leader in battery innovation and secured significant grants, including over $100 million from the Build Back Better Regional Challenge to start the New Energy New York initiative aimed at building a nationally leading battery innovation and manufacturing ecosystem.
Prior to Binghamton, Stromhaug worked for the Research Foundation for the State University of New York (SUNY) coordinating technology commercialization across the SUNY system. He also worked as an assistant professor of cell biology at the University of Missouri and held doctoral positions at the University of Michigan, the University of Florida and the Norwegian Cancer Society.
Stromhaug holds a PhD and Master of Science in cell biology and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biochemistry.
