University Facilities continues to be committed to designing and renovating campus public restrooms with accessible, inclusive and comfortable designs.
Efforts are ongoing to place signs at every bathroom and restroom location, specifying the facility as a men’s bathroom, women’s bathroom, or a restroom. All single-user restrooms are gender-inclusive. Additional symbols on related signage will specify the available accommodations: ADA, toilet, shower, changing station, etc.
Use the bathrooms/restrooms in which you feel safest and most comfortable. This may include single-user restrooms or gendered bathrooms.
University Facilities is updating signage to distinguish between bathrooms and restrooms. Rest areas designated as bathrooms can be accessed by multiple users simultaneously whereas restrooms are single-user.
Single-user restrooms are open to all campus community members.
There are currently 193 single-user restrooms in non-student living buildings which are maintained by University Facilities.
Campus Living maintains on-campus student living facilities. Visit their website for more information.
You can find more information on the location of single-user restrooms on the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion website.
Almost all single-user restrooms on campus have a single set of fixtures and signage is updated or being updated to reflect the amenities available.
While you are able to use which ever facility you feel most comfortable in, UB has lactation rooms available for reservation as needed. More information can be found on the Lactation Rooms webpage.
