Korean Studies Conferences organized by the Asia Research Institute address important and timely topics in Korean studies in conjunction with a UB faculty member who serves as the principal organizer. Participants include invited presenters from other institutions at all stages of their careers, from prominent senior scholars to up-and-coming graduate students. The first three conferences: Genre, Gender and Language in Korean Film and Drama; K-pop and the West: Media, Fandom and Transnational Politics; and (Un)defining Korean Architecture: Modernity, Stories and Transformation, were funding by a grant from the Academy of Korean Studies.
