Clear Space Rules

Adhering to prescribed clear space rules around UB marks is necessary to maintain legibility, ensure consistent presentation and maximize impact. When there is insufficient space between a university or unit mark and other elements, the latter could be misconstrued as part of the university’s or unit’s visual identity, and the resulting combination could mistakenly be perceived as an alternative mark or logo.

Clear Space

For design applications (e.g. printed collateral, digital applications and merchandise) which feature only a single student group logo, a space equal to the height of one pentagon must be observed around the entire perimeter of the mark. No other mark or element can cross into this space.

Extended Clear Space

For any application that uses additional UB marks or external logos in conjunction with the student logo on a single piece, a space equal to the height of three pentagons must be observed around the entire perimeter of the mark. No other mark or element can cross into this space. Extended clear space should also be used when co-branding with another UB entity or external organization.
