Auditing allows students to take a course but not receive a traditional letter grade. Students must register and get instructor approval.

Undergraduate Students

  • Students can request to audit a class if they want to record attendance but not receive a traditional letter grade.
  • Students must submit the Audit a Course form.
  • An “N” grade is assigned to students who audit a class.

Graduate Students

  • A graduate student wishing an Audit (“N”) grade in a course must officially register for the course.
  • The student must also submit a written request to the instructor by the fourth week of class. The instructor’s decision is final and needs to be communicated to the student in writing.
