Personal Student Information

The Office of the Registrar is the trustee office for certain kinds of student information. We collect and maintain this information and provide it to authorized users. Students are the “owners” of information collected about them and can change almost all of it at any time.

  • Name

    Students can update their name and choose to use a name other than their legal name to identify themselves.
  • Gender Identity, Pronouns & Legal Sex

    Learn how to update a student’s gender identity, pronouns and legal sex, and how this information is used at UB. 
  • Address
    1/1/25
    Students need to maintain accurate address information on file with the university. They can change their address in HUB with their UBIT name and password or by completing a form.
  • Social Security Number

    Students may need to add, update or verify their Social Security Number (SSN).
  • FERPA
    1/1/25
    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives students the ability to inspect their records, and limits others from accessing that information.
