Create a guest account and register your device for Wi-Fi

Automatically connect to guest Wi-Fi for six months.

Step 1: Create a guest account

You need to create a guest account before you can connect as a guest for the first time.  

1. Select UB_Connect from the available Wi-Fi networks on your device.

2. Open a Web browser and enter http://connect.buffalo.eduin the address bar. 

3. Click Login as Guest

3. Click Sign up for an account under More.

4. Enter:

  • Your first and last name in the Your Name field.
  • Your non-UB email address in the Email Address field.

5. Check the box to accept the terms of use. 

6. Click Create Account.

7. A browser will open. Log into your email using the browser. Check your email for your UB guest password.

Step 2: Register your device

1. Open a new tab in your web browser and enter http://connect.buffalo.eduin the address bar.

2. Click Register this device, under More.

3. Enter your email address in the Username field.

4. Enter the UB Guest password sent to your email in the Password field.

5. Click Log In.

6. Enter a unique name for your device, such as Jane’s Macbook.

7. If not filled in, enter the MAC Address for your device.

8. Click Create Device.

9. Your device is now registered. 

Step 3: Connect to UB_Devices for up to 6 months of guest access

Once your device is connected to the UB_Devices network, you will have up to 6 months of guest internet access through a web browser.

  • Wired connection: Reboot your device and it will connect automatically.
  • Wireless connection:
    1. Select UB_Devices from the available UB Wi-Fi networks
    2. Enter the password goubbulls
    3. Click Join

How can I find my device's MAC Address?

  • Android
    1. Go to Settings 
    2. Scroll down to the bottom of settings and tap About phone
    3. Tap Status or Hardware information (depending on your model)
    4. Your MAC Address will be displayed under Wi-Fi MAC address
  • Apple iPhone/iPad
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap General
    3. Tap About
    4. Your MAC Address will be displayed in the Wi-Fi Address field.
  • Windows
    1. Click on the search bar of your laptop
    2. Search for Command Prompt and open the application
    3. Type in ipconfig /all and press Enter
    4. Look for the heading Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi:
    5. Your MAC Address will be listed under here as Physical Address.
  • MacBook
    1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner
    2. Select System Preferences
    3. Select Network
    4. Click Advanced in the bottom right corner
    5. Your MAC Address will be displayed as MAC Address.
