Configuring eduroam Manually with Chromebook

In order to connect your Chromebook to eduroam, you must configure it properly.

Important:

Chromebooks are designed for home use, not institutional use. Use at UB has been inconsistent, with reports of dropped or weak connections due to suspected firmware issues. UB does not recommend using Chromebooks on campus, and Chromebooks do not meet UB's student hardware standards.

Configuring Chromebook

  1. Click on your Chromebook's Wi-Fi and select eduroam
  2. Choose the following settings:
    • EAP method: PEAP
    •  Phase 2 authentication: Automatic
    • Server CA certificate: Default
    • User cert: none installed
    • Subject match: buffalo.edu
    • Subject alternative name match: (leave blank)
    • Domain suffix match: buffalo.edu
    • Identity: full UB email address, including @buffalo.edu
    • Password: UBITName password
    • Anonymous identity: (leave blank)
  3. Click Connect

Use eduroam at UB and When You Travel

Once you set up eduroam Wi-Fi, you're automatically able to use it at hundreds of universities and colleges around the world, in addition to UB.  No extra steps required.
