Rescue one and HazMat one are now on-scene, as is the EMS supervisor. All perimeters are being secured. Fire and EMS operations are proceeding appropriately. Area hospitals have been notified of the situation.
The university Media Relations team continues to receive calls from the press and media regarding the incident. [local TV channel #1] reports that they will have a crew on scene in 2 minutes.
The Student Health Center is receiving calls from parents and others wanting to know if their children students) are being treated.
University police is receiving calls from parents and others wanting information. The president's office is receiving calls from the chemistry chair and others on campus wanting guidance.
A large mass of people has begun to form at the edge of the perimeter established by campus police.
The on-duty [local city] fire department assistant chief has arrived on-scene and assumed command. The [local city] fire department public information officer has also arrived on-scene, as well as the fire department's arson investigator.
A unified command structure is in place. The city fire and police department, campus police department and emergency medical services are all part of the unified command.
The university police chief is now on-scene.
Social media contains facebook posts, tweets and video - showiing smoke from the building and injured people on the ground and people evacuating the building.
