Enrollment and tuition revenue are an important focus of the ARPP for academic units. Collaboration between Resource Planning, Enrollment Management, Institutional Analysis and the unit is crucial to developing an enrollment plan and projecting the resulting tuition revenue that will support all functions of the university.
Headcount is a measure of a unit's student population; the resource planning effort attributes students to units by primary HUB plan (major).
The Vice Provost for Enrollment Management leads a discussion on planned headcount enrollment with each unit, along with Resource Planning and Institutional Analysis, in the fall, prior to the launch of the ARPP. The results of these discussions will be incorporated into your unit's three-year plan.
Credit hours are a measure of a unit's instructional efforts; the resource planning effort attributes credit hours to units by the account associated with each course section.
You will submit your credit hour enrollment projections, along with proposals for changes to your enrollment plans, as part of the ARPP workbook. Proposals for enrollment plan changes should be developed with the offices of Enrollment Management and Resource Planning and should be accompanied by a pro forma that shows the expected revenues and costs related to the enrollment change.
Tuition revenue represents the revenue associated with student credit hour enrollment; the resoure planning effort attributes tuition revenue to units based on the tuition rate paid per credit hour by each student and the accounts associated with each course section in which the student is enrolled.
Tuition revenue earned is influenced by both changes to credit hour enrollment, changes to enrollment mix -- residency, program and FT/PT mix -- and planned tuition rate increases. Proposals for changes to enrollment plans will also affect tuition revenue, which should be incorporated into the accompanying pro forma.
Advanced training represents students who receive instruction outside of the classroom, such as medical residents.
Currently, only the medical and dental schools have students (medical residents) receiving advanced training. As the students are tracked via employment appointments, historical information for these students can be found on the faculty and staff tab of the SIRI ARPP dashboard.
