About Mr. Savoy

As someone who has always loved school and learning, working in higher education has become a career and a vocation for me. I received my BA from Canisius College in English, Creative Writing and Spanish as an honors student where I was also involved in student government, programming and the LGBTQ+ organization. After studying abroad in Spain my junior year as a Gilman scholar, I returned to campus and wrote my honors thesis on Hemingway and Spain, synthesizing my various disciplines into my culminating honors experience. Soon after, I returned to Canisius to complete my MS in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration. I started my career in student engagement and residence life, and most recently I worked in study abroad program with Syracuse University.

Now back in my hometown of Buffalo, NY, I am elated to reconnect with local friends and family, witness the changes to the area I have missed, and immerse myself in the UB community. My role as Program Coordinator gets me back into student engagement, developing and coordinating key experiences and events for our Honors Scholars and fostering a warm and welcoming community. I also manage our social media accounts where I have the pleasure of highlighting all the amazing achievements of our students.

Outside of work, I enjoy tending to my plants, such as propagating my monstera, going to the movies, listening to music, doing yoga, playing video games (usually Pokémon) and camping in beautiful NYS parks such as Alleghany and the Adirondacks.
