Currently enrolled UB undergraduate and graduate students who are leaving UB (and do not intend to continue enrollment later) should complete a form and review the student checklist.
Students who do not intend to return to UB should complete the Not Returning to UB form. The Office of the Registrar will update the student’s record once this form is submitted. Students should also refer to the Student Checklist on this page for additional information and other important steps students may need to take to finalize their departure from UB.
In addition to completing the Not Returning form, it is important for international students to contact International Student Services (ISS) to discuss how their plans will affect their immigration status.
Students who will not be returning because they are graduating do not need to complete the Not Returning to UB form, and do not need to review the checklist. However, they should apply for graduation.
Students who leave UB without a formal leave of absence must complete an admissions re-entry form should they wish to return.
Students may want to consider other options, depending on their specific situation.
Students should use this checklist as a guide as they prepare to exit the university.
Students can file a formal, recorded leave of absence to maintain their current major and registration eligibility.
Students can drop or resign classes using the HUB Student Center (via MyUB) before the published deadlines. Visit 1Capen or contact the Office of the Registrar with questions.

Students can change their address in the following ways:
It is critical that students clear all outstanding balances or request a refund of any balance due to them. Students will need to check their UB email for notifications regarding the eBill after their departure, as the university sends billing statements electronically to their UB email address. (If students no longer recall their UBIT username and/or password, they should contact the UBIT Help Center.)
It is possible to have adjustments to tuition, fees, fines or financial aid that may occur after the student’s last term has ended. Failure to pay these charges will result in collection efforts.
Contact the Office of Student Accounts with any additional questions.
Withdrawing students with an active housing agreement must submit a housing cancellation request. Housing charges will be adjusted based on Campus Living’s term and conditions, and students released from the housing contract must turn in the room key and properly check out at their area or complex office.
Students should continue to check for financial adjustments, including possible additional charges, that may be added to their Student Accounts record after their departure. This includes continuing to check UB email for notifications regarding an eBill after the student’s departure.
Contact Campus Living with questions.
Students can terminate a meal plan by contacting the UB Card Office.
Contact the UB Card Office to learn the deadline for and procedure to request a refund.
Students can contact Parking and Transportation to check their status. Students must resolve all service indicator/holds applied to their account; indicators and holds will prevent the university from releasing records and transcripts.
Students should visit 17 Baldy Hall or contact 716-645-2488.
When a student is registered for courses, the student assumes responsibility for paying all charges associated with those courses. A student must pay even if not one class was attended unless the courses have been dropped or resigned according to the published deadlines, which can be found on the student calendars.
It is extremely important for students to use their HUB Student Center (via MyUB) to drop courses before any financial penalty is assessed.
Additionally, it is important that students cancel other services they were scheduled to receive, such as a residence hall room, a meal plan, student medical insurance and financial aid.
Students should cancel these services separately.
