Common Questions

Who has access to Zoom AI Companion data from the meeting?

By default, only the Zoom meeting host has access to Zoom AI Companion summaries until and unless they share it with others.

If the host uses Smart Recording, anyone they share the Zoom cloud recording with will have access to the content created by AI Companion.

How accurate are the summaries? Do I need to do anything before sharing them?

If you are the host and have AI Companion enabled, it is required that you review the content of a generated summary for accuracy and correct it before sharing, as there may be errors.

What does Zoom do with the data?

If a meeting is not being recorded, but has Meeting Summary or AI Companion questions enabled, Zoom only temporarily stores the audio recording in order to provide the service. Zoom Smart Recording requires Zoom to save your data.

Does Zoom use my recordings to train AI?

No. Zoom does not use any of your audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments or other communications, such as poll results, whiteboard and reactions, to train Zoom’s or its third-party artificial intelligence models. Read more about how Zoom uses data to provide Zoom AI companion features.

How long does Zoom save live transcripts and AI Companion meeting summaries?

All Zoom recordings, including live transcripts, are saved on the Zoom cloud for 180 days. Transcripts used by Zoom to generate AI Companion meeting summaries are saved on the Zoom cloud for 30 days.

Zoom cloud recordings and transcripts are also saved to Panopto if the host of the meeting has an account.
