The Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) oversees the use of radioactive material and radiation producing equipment to ensure all work is conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with State and Federal regulations. The RSC is established by conditions of the New York State Department of Health to ensure compliance with Radioactive Materials License 1049 and the conditions of the X-ray Registration 14009844.
The RSC consists of a minimum of ten persons having radioisotope or radiation producing equipment experience and representing a cross-section of campus users or possessing expertise appropriate to the purpose of the RSC. The RSC reports to the Executive Director of Regulatory Support (Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development), who serves as the management representative, and meets as often as necessary to conduct its business, but not less than once in each calendar quarter.
