Promotional Items and Apparel
Any use of the University at Buffalo name, logos or marks by all campus departments and student groups for promotional items, novelties, apparel or any reprints of those items must have prior approval from the UB Trademarks and Licensing office.

Items Requiring Trademark Approval
Promotional items and apparel are examples of items requiring trademark approval from the UB Trademarks and Licensing office.
Promotional items include but are not limited to:
- lanyards
- mugs, cups
- pens
- key chains
- flags, banners
- table covers
- digital signage
- displays
- bags, backpacks
- blankets
Apparel items include but are not limited to:
- t-shirts
- sweatshirts
- hats
- jackets
- lab coats
Prior Trademark Approval is Required For All Items
Failure to properly obtain trademark approval could hinder vendor fulfillment of your order. Items may be subject to confiscation in cases of inappropriate or incorrect trademarks usage.

To obtain trademark approval, all campus departments, organizations and groups must complete and submit a campus trademark request.

How To Order Items With a UB Trademark
Whenever possible, please use collegiate licensed vendors. These vendors are very knowledgeable about our brand requirements, have access to UB’s artwork and maintain proper liability insurance to protect the university in case of product failure. Trademarks approval is still required for all items, even when using a collegiate licensed vendor.
Purchasing Method

- For all funds
- Use the Trademark Materials Request Form in ShopBlue
eReq:
- For State and RF funds
- Attach the completed Campus Trademark Request Form signed by the Trademarks and Licensing office
Procurement Card:
- For all funds
- Save the completed Campus Trademark Request Form signed by the Trademarks and Licensing office with your PCard file for auditing purposes
