Salary Level 1

Salary Level 2

Salary Level Qualifications Characteristics
Level 2 Associate degree with 2-3 years of experience or bachelor's degree with 0-1 year of experience
  • Takes ownership of an assigned function
  • Makes independent decisions related to tasks assigned by supervisor using established policies and procedures
  • Problem solver with departmental role using standard, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Provides input, direction and advice to others
  • May supervise
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Salary Level 3

Salary Level Qualifications Characteristics
Level 3 Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience or master's degree or professional certification with no experience
  • Shares in setting  work priorities and objectives according to established policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance on a subject matter, techniques, operations and tools of the business
  • Help to develop, train, lead or share knowledge with others
  • Contributes to the development of policies
  • May be responsible for the management of a small budget
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Organizes work and manages own time
  • May supervise:
    • Oversee staff functions
    • Can change from shift to shift
    • Assign work and tasks to staff
    • Resolves problems escalated from employees 
  • May be an individual contributor — subject matter expert that can interpret policy as needed and provide advanced direction and support to the organization.

Salary Level 4

Salary Level Qualifications Characteristics

Level 4

Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience or master's degree or professional certification with 1 year of experience
  • Shares in setting  work priorities and objectives according to established policies and policies
  • Responsible for the unit/departmental, functions and outcomes to achieve departmental objectives
  • Resolves difficult problems that require a combination of investigation, research and analysis
  • Sets departmental priorities
  • Recommends departmental policy needs that may impact activities, programs and operations
  • Regular communications and interactions with internal and external constituents
  • May have input into the organization’s budget planning process
  • Influences important operating policies, decisions and actions with long range impacts in a department
  • Analytical position within a department
  • May supervise:
    • Assigns roles, duties and tasks within the organization
    • Make employment selection decisions
    • Contribute to the growth and development of staff
  • May be an individual contributor — subject matter expert that can create policy as needed and provide direction and support to the organization.

Salary Level 5

Salary Level Qualifications Characteristics
Level 5 Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience or master's degree or professional certification with 3 years of experience
  • Sets priorities and objectives within broad policy, law and sound practice
  • Manage a major department’s resources, policies and budget
  • Initiates actions to accomplish a major department’s objectives
  • Resolves complex and difficult problems when facts and information for a resolution may not be available or are conflicting
  • Uses persuasive influence in delicate negotiating situations
  • Operate independently making decisions and taking actions as warranted by the operations of the department
  • Approves important actions and policies where an impact will be significant
  • Supervisory responsibility:
    • May manage a major department or unit’s staffing needs including salary administration, employee development, staffing models, etc.
    • May provide direction to staffing resources made available to accomplish the goals of a significant program within a major functional area

Salary Level 6

Salary Level Qualifications Characteristics
Level 6 Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience or master's degree or professional certification with 4 years of experience
  • Manage multiple departments resources, policies and budget
  • May be responsible for administration within a VP/Decanal area
  • Determines policies and procedures that may have a significant impact within a VP/Decanal area or University wide
  • Manage a major department or unit’s staffing needs including salary administration, employee development and staffing models
